Welcome to week two of the 2025 Wonderful Hats Crochet Along! Today we will learn to crochet the Hill Beanie.
I fell in love with this crochet stitch combination not too long ago and called it a slip stitch cluster stitch. When you work rows or rounds upon rounds of this stitch you create a thick fabric with lots of texture. You can also work the stitch in singular rows or rounds and get a wonderful ridge of texture as you will see in this crochet hat!

Our Hill Beanie crochet pattern is worked from the brim up and featured in the adult size. I will, however, provide some stitch multiples below that will help if you wish to adjust the size.
After working a ribbed brim you will proceed with the body of the hat which features rounds of our slip stitch clusters and rounds of half double crochet stitches worked in the third loop.
You can see these stitches worked in the video tutorial below. The resulting beanie is packed with texture and snug fitting!

The Wonderful Hats Crochet Along:
The Hill Beanie crochet pattern is part of the 2025 Wonderful Hats crochet along. During this event we will learn to crochet four new crochet hat patterns and their matching accessories. Last week we made the Deep River Beanie and the Deep River Scarf. Later this week I will have the Hill Neck Warmer for you to go along with your new hat.
If this is your first time hearing about the crochet along. You may wish to check out the introductory post here.

The Materials:
For the hat, you will need about 200 yards of a medium/worsted weight yarn as well as a 5mm (H/8) crochet hook. I will provide the details about the specific yarn I used in the photos down below.

Barn Quilt Blankets is a collection of five blanket crochet patterns that feature a beautiful geometric designs. The book is now available in both paperback and ebook formats on Amazon! You can read about it here: BARN QUILT BLANKETS
