Welcome to week two, day two of the 2025 Wonderful Hats Crochet Along! Today we will make the Hill Neck Warmer crochet pattern to complement our Hill Beanie.
This past Wednesday we were introduced to the Hill Beanie. The Hill Beanie is a heavily textured crochet hat featuring rounds of half double crochet stitches worked in the third loop and also slip stitch cluster stitches. It is this same texture that is carried into the Hill Neck Warmer.

Sometimes it’s nice to have a good neck warmer on hand as the colder months approach. They are simple to wear and not as bulky as a traditional scarf. When crocheting them, they also require a lot less yarn!
Our Hill Neck Warmer crochet pattern today is worked from the bottom up and only has a circumference of about 24 inches. This means that it is going to fit over an adult head nicely, without being too snug.
The crochet neck warmer is worked in rounds, and you will join as you go so that there is no sewing when finished. You will begin by working some ribbing, followed by several rounds of texture, before completing the neck warmer with more ribbing.
I mentioned that the design features some slip stitch clusters. These clusters are actually quite easy to work as they are made up of slip stitches and half double crochet two together stitches. I will demonstrate how to work them in the video tutorial below.

The Wonderful Hats Crochet Along:
The Hill Neck Warmer crochet pattern is part of the 2025 Wonderful Hats crochet along. During this event we will learn to crochet four new crochet hat patterns and their matching accessories. Last week we made the Deep River Beanie and the Deep River Scarf.
If this is your first time hearing about the crochet along. You may wish to check out the introductory post here.

The Materials:
For the neck warmer, you will need about 200 yards of a medium/worsted weight yarn as well as a 5mm (H/8) crochet hook. I will provide the details about the specific yarn I used in the photos down below.
