The Field Beanie Crochet Pattern features a unique cluster stitch texture that makes for a cozy crochet hat!

A few weeks ago I posted a tutorial for the Field Stitch. The stitch is worked using primarily single crochet stitches and spiked cluster stitches. The spiked cluster stitches create an arrow or almost braided like design that run vertically along the fabric. Becuase of the spike stitches and the tighter single crochet stitches in the pattern I wanted to try it in a crochet hat. It think it turned out quite pretty!

How to crochet the Field Beanie:

Like many of my other crochet hats, such as the recent Sable Beanie, this hat is worked from the brim up. The brim of the hat is worked in rows while the rest of the hat is worked in rounds. It will take a few hours to work. The hat can be worn with a pompom or without.

For my materials, I used a super soft 100% acrylic yarn called Heartland by Lion Brand. It is a worsted or medium weight yarn. For a crochet hook, to work this crochet pattern you will need a 5 mm (H/8). In the video tutorial below you will see me using a Birchwood crochet hook by Rowan.
