The Slip Stitch Cluster crochet pattern is a solid stitch pattern with a lot of beautiful texture!
And what’s even better is that the texture is the same on both sides! Not too long ago, I published the V and Cluster stitch, which I absolutely loved. In the pattern below, you will see that they are created by working a slip stitch followed by a half double crochet two together in the same stitch. The clusters were a lot of fun to work with! Wanting more texture and more fund clusters, I decided to try out a swatch worked entirely in the slip stitch clusters. I absolutely loved the results, and I’m sure you will also.

The Materials:
For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Heatherly by KnitPicks and WeCrochet in a single colour. It is a worsted-weight yarn. You could also work this pattern in two or more colours. I will also be working with a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook. In the video tutorial below, you will see me working with a Birchwood Crochet Hook by Rowan. However, you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.
Thank you so much for stopping by! If you enjoy the tutorial below, be sure to also check out some of the many other crochet stitch tutorials on my site and pin this for later! You may wish to start with the beautiful Pretty Puffs Stitch Crochet Pattern.

Pattern Notes:
This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a solid colour.
This pattern is written in American crochet terms.
To begin, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch, you will need an odd number stitches for your foundation chain.
For example, ch 31.
Row One:
Sc in the 1st st, sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Row Two:
Sl st in the 1st st, hdc2tog over the 1st 2 sts beginning in the same st as the previous sl st, *sl st in the next st, hdc2tog beginning in the same st as the previous sl st and into the next st; Rpt from * across, Ch 1, turn.
And that’s it!
For the rest of the pattern, simply repeat row two. Fasten off, weave in your ends.

Love the slip stitch crochet pattern
Do you have recommendations for doing increases/decreases with this stitch? I am using it in a cardigan, and I am about to do the sleeves, but need to work out increases and decreases as I go. I guess also doing the stitch in the round too 🙂 Any tips appreciated thanks!
