This little Sunflower Earrings crochet pattern is sure to bring a little smile to your day as you wear them out and about.

I’m going to confess, I got my ears pierced for the first time only a few months ago! And what was a fun outing with my daughter has now turned into an obsession with earrings.

After seeing some crochet earring designs online I decided to design a few pairs for myself (there will be at least one more crochet earring pattern coming soon!).

As I love my flowers and garden I decided to stick with some simple flowers. Crocheting earrings would also mean working with a thin embroidery thread so I didn’t want to start with anything too complicated.

What yarn should you use to crochet earrings?

I seen crochet earrings worked in a variety of yarn fibres and weights including acrylics and cotton, most often in a lighter weight yarn, some even worked in thread.

For my little Sunflower Earrings crochet pattern I decided to work them in a cotton embroidery thread. It would mean that the earrings would not be too large and they would be light weight. I also love that embroidery thread is easily available online and at most craft stores. It also comes in an endless array of colours!

You will only need a small amount of embroidery thread for these earrings in two colours. I used one little skein in each colour and it allowed me to work two pairs of earrings.

What typer of earring hook should I use?

Again this is really a matter of personal preference. In the photos and in the video tutorial below I use a stainless steel 19 mm fish hook style hook.

The only other tools you will need are scissors, a yarn needle and a 2.5 mm crochet hook like the Birchwood Crochet Hook from Rowan that I use in the video below.
