I LOVE crocheting socks! And these baby crew socks are simply adorable.  They are worked in simple stitches and feature two stripes of colour at the top.

I’m so happy that you are here! This crochet pattern is part of the Christmas Make Along on Underground Crafter.  So if this is your first time here, welcome! If you are curious about the Christmas in July Make along with Undergound Crafter, you can check it out here: Christmas in July Make Along!

July Make Along

Now Let’s make some Socks!

As mentioned above, these baby crew socks are made using simple single crochet stitches.  They are worked in one piece beginning at the sock cuff down to the toe.  The cuff of the sock features two stripes so, for this pattern you will need a could of colours.  Of course, if you choose to not have the stripe, you will need only one colour.

The heel of the sock is created using a heel flap and then shaping method.  I love the look that it creates as the heel is quite defined.  This is the same technique that I use in my Cozy Cottage Socks Crochet Pattern.

This crochet pattern currently comes in four sizes (stay tuned – patterns for the children and adult sizes will be coming soon!).  The sizes include 0-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-18 months and 18-24 months.  Exact measurements can be found below.

Materials:

For this pattern, I used small amounts of the Superwash Merino Yarn by Lion Brand.  It is a light weight yarn that is 100% wool.  For the largest size you will need approximately 65 yards of your main colour and about 6 yards of your secondary colour.

You will also need a 3.75 mm crochet hook.  In the full video tutorial below I will be using a Wooden streamline hook in ebony by Furls Crochet.  They are my favourite!

Along with your hook you will need 2-3 stitch markers.  This pattern is mostly worked in continuous rounds which means that you will need a stitch marker in order to mark the first stitch in each round.

PDF Copies:

The crochet pattern will be written out in full below, however if you would like to purchase an ad free PDF or add the pattern to your library, you can do so from either my Ravelry or Etsy Shop.  It may also be handy to have a printed copy of this pattern in order to highlight the stitch counts for the different sizes.

Next Rnds: Work 14, 16 (18, 20) continuous rounds of sc (meaning sc in each st around, do not join at the end of each round but use your stitch marker to mark the first stitch).

Sock Toe:

Place the sock on a flat surface, placing it so that the sole of the foot is down.  Flatten and with your stitch markers, mark the two sides of the foot.  These markers will indicate where you will work your decreases.

Working continuous rounds, sc in each stitch until you reach your first stitch marker, sc2tog over the marked st and the next (replace your st maker now in this sc2tog), sc in each st to the next stitch marker and sc2tog.

Continue to repeat the above until you have 14, 16 (18, 20) sts remaining and join with a sl st leaving a long tail.

Turn the sock inside out and using the long tail, sew the tip of the toe closed.  Fasten of and weave in your ends.
