The Wide Cone Stitch, like the Cone Stitch and the Mini Cone Stitch, creates a beautiful fabric but with more drape than that of the other cone stitches.

This means that this stitch may be more suitable for those projects that you want to be a bit more light weight such as your shawls and garments.  Similarly to the other different types of cone stitches, the Wide Cone Stitch is still very easy to work and will work up a bit more quickly.

Materials for this Tutorial:

For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Pima Cotton Yarn by Lion Brand Yarn. It is a worsted weight yarn. The hook shown in the video below is a Soft touch 5 mm crochet hook by Clover.  However you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.

Thank you so much for stopping by! If you enjoy the tutorial below, be sure to also check out some of the many other crochet stitch tutorials on my site and pin this for later! You may wish to start with the Single Crochet Puff Stitch | How to Crochet.

Notes:

This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial.  You may work the stitch in one colour or many.  I will be working the design in a solid colour.

To begin, make a slip knot and then chain your desired number of chains.  For this stitch pattern you will need a multiple of 2 stitches for your foundation chain.

For example, ch 24.

Row One:

Dc in the 3rd ch from your hook and in each st across.  Ch 2, turn.

Row Two:

Hdc2tog over the 1st 2 sts, *ch 1, hdc2tog beginning in the previous st; Rpt from * across, ch 3, turn.

Row Three:

Dc in the 3rd ch from your hook, *dc in the next ch-1 sp; Rpt from * across.  Ch 2, turn.

And that’s it!

For the rest of the pattern repeat rows 2 and 3, fasten off weave in your ends.
