The Single Crochet Puff Stitch crochet pattern creates a really unique texture and it is not your usual puff stitch.

One of the things I love about this stitch pattern is how easy it is to work.  Not only is it made up of easy to work crochet stitches, but it is also a one row repeat.  This stitch is very versatile and can be used in many different crochet projects and in many different yarn weights and fibres.  I look forward to seeing what you create with it!

Materials for this Tutorial:

For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Pima Cotton Yarn by Lion Brand Yarn. It is a worsted weight yarn. The hook shown in the video below is a Soft touch 5 mm crochet hook by Clover.  However you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.

Thank you so much for stopping by! If you enjoy the tutorial below, be sure to also check out some of the many other crochet stitch tutorials on my site and pin this for later! You may wish to start with the Mini Cone Stitch | How to Crochet.

Notes:

This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial.  You may work the stitch in one colour or many.  I will be working the design in a solid colour.

To begin, make a slip knot and then chain your desired number of chains.  For this stitch pattern you will need a multiple of 3 stitches, plus 2 stitches for your foundation chain.

For example, ch 23.

Row One:

Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook, *puff st (See “Stitches and Abbreviations”) in the same st, sk the next 2 chs, sc in the next st; Rpt from * across ending with an sc, ch 1, turn.

Row Two:

(Sc, puff st) in the 1st sc, sk the next st, *(sc, puff st) in the next sc, sk the next st; Rpt from * across ending with an sc in the final sc.  Ch 1, turn.

And that’s it!

For the rest of the pattern simply repeat row two.  Fasten off, weave in your ends.
