Crochet this Peppermint Christmas Stocking crochet pattern to add some vintage flair to your holiday decorating!
I love making crochet Christmas Stockings for the holidays and each year I like to release a crochet pattern for one here on Rich Textures Crochet!
Over the years I have designed the Comfort and Joy Christmas Stockings and the Wintertime Christmas Stocking which are worked in a fair isle design. This year I decided to give the stocking a more vintage feel and worked it in bold stripes. Introducing the Peppermint Christmas Stocking crochet pattern!

The stripes in the Peppermint Christmas Stocking start at the cuff and continue down into the foot. In order to get the stripes to continue past the heel, I did need to adjust where our “first stitch” in the round is placed, but don’t worry, I will help you find it again in the free written instructions and the video instructions below.

How to make a crochet Christmas Stocking:
Our Peppermint Christmas Stocking crochet pattern is worked from the cuff down to the toe and it is worked all as one piece. This stocking is a good size measuring approximately 7.5 inches by 24.5 inches when laid flat. It is a great size for stuffing with small gifts!
The heel is worked using a technique called the “heel flap.” It is my favourite way to work a heel in a sock, decorative or otherwise. It gives it a nice shape!
Once you have worked the heel, you will rejoin the yarn and continue working the foot down into the toe.
You will want to keep your stitch marker handy as the majority of the stocking is worked in continuous rounds. This will make sure that there is no unsightly seam or join in your final product. I think you will like it!

Materials:
For this Peppermint Christmas stocking crochet pattern, you will need two different colours of yarn. I invite you to choose your favourites! In my sample I have used a 100% acrylic yarn called Heartland by Lion Brand Yarn. You may also choose to switch up the yarn type. You will only want to make sure that it is a worsted or medium weight yarn.
Along with the yarn you will also need a stitch marker and a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook. In the video below you will see me using a Birchwood Crochet Hook by Rowan.
