The Beach Point cowl is an easy crochet pattern to work.  It features rows of a solid shell stitch that is fairly quick to work. The shells are worked using double crochet stitches making this project great for both the beginner and the advanced crocheter.

A lacy crochet cowl featuring a solid shell stitch

Shortly after publishing the crochet pattern for the matching Beach Point Beanie, I was asked to design a scarf of a cowl to create a set.  It’s been a long time in coming, but here it is!

I have worked the cowl in a 100% worsted weight yarn called Selkirk Worsted.  Each skein has approximately 200 yards in it and you will need two skeins total to complete the cowl.  Along with your yarn you will need a 5mm crochet hook.  In the video below I will be using a 5 mm birchwood crochet hook by Rowan Yarns.
