Rocky Scarf Crochet Pattern

The long awaited Rocky Scarf is finally here! This crochet scarf features a wonderful texture.

Shortly after releasing the Rocky Beanie Crochet Pattern, I received several requests for a matching scarf pattern.  The Rocky Scarf is here!

This scarf follows a similar pattern to the Rocky Beanie.  It is worked in rows lengthwise and features some bobble stitches and half double crochet stitches that are worked in the third loop.  In the video tutorial following the written pattern below, I will demonstrate exactly how to find that third loop!

This design has so much texture in it! I worked it in the Landscapes yarn by Lion Brand so it is also very soft and comfortable to wear.

The Rocky Scarf Crochet Pattern:

Skill Level: Easy

Gauge: 20 sts x 12 rows of pattern = 4 inches.

Finished Size: Approximately 6 x 72 inches, excluding fringe.

Yarn: Heartland by Lion Brand Yarn (100% extra acrylic; 5 oz/142g; 251 yds/230 m); 2 Skeins Petrified Forest

Hook: Size H/8 (5.0 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions: Yarn Needle

 

Crochet Stitches and Abbreviations:

3rd Loop – The loop under the top loop of the half double crochet stitch.

Blo – Back Loop Only

Bobble – Bobble Stitch ([yarn over, insert your hook in the stitch indicated, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through two loops] five times, yarn over and draw through all loops on your hook)

Ch – Chain

Hdc – Half Double Crochet

Rpt – Repeat

Sk – Skip

Sl St – Slip Stitch

Yo – Yarn Over

 

Pattern Notes:

• Pattern is written in American English terms.
• Pattern is worked in rows lengthwise.
• The ch 1 at beginning of row does not count as stitch.
• Weave in ends as needed.
• OPTIONAL – Add fringe to each end.

 

Free Crochet Pattern:

Ch 252.

Row 1: Hdc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each st across, ch 1, turn.  (251 sts)

Row 2:  Working in the 3rd loop, sc in each of the first 3 sts, *bobble in the next st, sc in each of the next 3 sts; rpt from * across.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Hdc in each st across.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 4: Working in the 3rd loop, sc in each st across.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 5: Hdc in each st across.  Ch 1, turn.

Rows 6-19: Repeat rows 2-5 four times, ending on a row 4.

Fasten off and weave in your ends.  Add fringe to each end if desired.
