The Maria Beanie crochet pattern is a beautifully textured design with an almost lacy appearance.

The Maria Beanie is worked from the brim up.  It features an easy to work brim with textured half double crochet stitches worked in the third loop followed by rounds of puff shell stitches.  The beanie has a little height to it to give it a slight slouch when worn and it’s fabric is not quite as dense as some of my other crochet beanies like the Moonbeam Beanie posted a few days ago.

A textured crochet beanie worked in a cream coloured yarn

I love the texture in this beanie! The body of the hat features a puff shell stitch.  It may look a little complicated, but the stitch is really quite simple and fun to work.  The top of the hat is worked using the popular half double crochet which ties it nicely into the brim and really makes the puff shell stitches really stand out

The Materials:

For the Maria Beanie, I will be working with a single colour of a worsted weight yarn.  In the photos and in the video tutorial I am using the Color Theory Yarn by Lion Brand Yarn in the colour Ivory.  It is super soft and 100% acrylic.  You will only need one ball to complete this pattern.

For this pattern you will also need a 5 mm crochet hook.  In the video tutorial below I will be using a Birchwood Hook by Rowan Yarns.
