Welcome to week three of the Wonderful Hats Crochet Along! Today we will learn to make the Bay Beanie Crochet Pattern.

The Bay Beanie crochet pattern showcases the wonderful Waistcoat Moss Stitch that I was introduced to not too long ago.

I love this stitch pattern as it blends two of my favourite stitches: the waistcoat stitch and the moss stitch. Unlike a straight waistcoat stitch fabric, the Waistcoat moss stitch still has that knit-look, but the resulting fabric is not as dense. A great trait for your winter accessories!

The crochet pattern for the Bay Beanie below is worked from the brim up. If you been around here for a bit, you will know this is my favourite way to work a crochet hat. It creates a nice shape for a beanie!

The Bay Beanie crochet pattern is sized to fit an adult head, but I will give a little instruction below to change the size should you wish too.

The Wonderful Hats Crochet Along:

The Hill Beanie crochet pattern is part of the 2025 Wonderful Hats Crochet Along event. During this event we will learn to crochet four new crochet hat patterns and their matching accessories. Last week we made the Hill Beanie and the Hill Neck Warmer. Later this week I will have the Bay Neck Warmer for you to go along with your new hat.

The Materials:

For the hat, you will need about 200 yards of a medium/worsted weight yarn as well as a 5mm (H/8) crochet hook. I will provide the details about the specific yarn I used in the photos down below.
