This free crochet pattern for Autumn Skies Throw features waves of colour and texture and celebrates on of my favourite seasons!
Autumn has always been one of my favourite seasons! I love the smells (freshly fallen leaves and pumpkin pie), the sounds, the temperatures and, most of all, the colours!
From changing leaves to pumpkin patches and apple orchards, there is no shortage of colour in the fall in Ontario, Canada. And the colours become even more brilliant when you look to the skies!
The changing seasons also mean brilliant sunsets and happy rainbows.
Not too long ago I was working with some new-to-me yarn and as I was admiring the blanket that was emerging, my four year old interrupted saying, “Mom, that looks like a sunset!”
She was right! It really reminded me of my favourite Autumn Skies and so this throw was born 🙂
This crochet blanket is crocheted using nine of the Mandala Ombre yarn cakes by Lion Brand Yarn. The colour name suits it perfectly: Tranquil. It is a medium worsted weight 100% acrylic yarn. And it’s so soft and squishy! I love how it worked up in this blanket.
You can read more about this particular yarn on the Lion Brand Yarn website (Lion Brand Yarn: Mandala Ombre) and I would like to say “thank you” to Lion Brand who provided yarn support making this pattern possible!
I paired the yarn with a 6 mm crochet hook. The crochet blanket is worked in a round starting from the centre. It measures approximately 48 inches by 48 inches but the beauty of a project such as this is that as it is worked from the middle out you can make the blanket as large or as small as you would like.
The crochet pattern will be written out in full below, however if you would like to add this pattern to your library or purchase it in PDF format, you may do so from either my Etsy or Ravelry shops:

Thank you so much for stopping by and I look forward to seeing you again soon!
Until then, Happy Crocheting!

Love the pattern! I would like to make a rectangular blanket with this pattern. How do I modify the initial rows to get a rectangular shape? Thanks!
I have the same question. Is there an option to make it rectangle?
