This Lovely V Stitch is, well, lovely! It is a simple modification of the traditional V stitch, adding rows of spiked stitches in between.
The pattern is pretty in a single colour, but when you work it in multiple, as I will below, it really makes the stitches stand out and give them a unique and fascinating look. The created fabric has an open, lacy like appearance. You could work this stitch in both light and heavy weight yarns.

Materials for this Tutorial:
For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Pima Cotton Yarn by Lion Brand Yarn. It is a worsted weight yarn. The hook shown in the video below is a 5 mm birchwood crochet hook by Rowan Yarns. However you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.

Sc – Single Crochet
Sk – Skip
Sl St – Slip Stitch
Yo – Yarn Over
This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial. You may work the stitch in one colour or many. I will be working the design in two colours: A, B.
To begin, make a slip knot and then chain your desired number of chains. For this stitch pattern you will need a multiple of four stitches, plus two stitches for your foundation chain (multiples of 4+2).
For example, with colour A, ch 22.
Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook, sc in the next st, *ch 1, sk the next st, sc in the next st; Rpt from * across, sc in the final st. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in the 1st st, *ch 1, sk the next st, sc in the next ch-1 sp; Rpt from * all the way across. Switch to colour B in the final st, ch 4, turn.
With colour B, sk the next ch-1 sp, *[dc, ch 1, dc (v-st made)] working over the next sc and into the ch-1 sp 2 rows below, ch 1, sk the next sc; Rpt from * across, ch 1, sk the next sc, dc into the final st. Ch 4 and turn.
*[Dc, ch 1, dc] into the ch-1 sp of the next v-st, ch 1; Rpt from * across, ch 1, dc in the 3rd ch of the starting ch-4. Switch to colour A in the final st, ch 1, turn.
Sc in the 1st st, dc working over the next ch-1 sp and into the ch-4 sp 2 rows below, *ch 1, sc in the next ch-1 sp, ch 1, dc working over the next ch-1 sp and into the ch-1 sp 2 rows below; Rpt from * across, sc in the 3rd ch of the starting ch 4, ch 1, turn.
And that’s it!
For the rest of the pattern, repeat rows 2-5. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
