Beautiful, solid and cozy texture is what you will find in this Jayden Beanie crochet pattern: the second hat pattern in the Wonderful Hats Crochet Along!
Welcome to week two in the 2024 Wonderful Hats Crochet Along! This week we will be learning how to crochet the Jayden Beanie crochet pattern.
As mentioned, this crochet hat is worked in a beautiful solid texture. The stitches are worked closely together giving the stitches a puffed appearance. The final hat is thick and warm.
As was the Sweetheart Beanie, the first hat in this crochet along, the Jayden Beanie is worked from the brim up and all as one piece. I have sized it here to fit an adult head with a 20-22 inch circumference and I will provide a little instruction later on for how you might adjust the size if needed.

The Materials:
Each hat pattern in this crochet along can be worked using a worsted/medium weight yarn. In the tutorials I will be using the Wool Ease by Lion Brand. It is an acrylic/wool blended yarn that is soft and wonderful for working winter accessories. If you would like to substitute this yarn for another you may do so! If you are looking for a 100% acrylic option, I recommend the Lion Brand Heartland yarn. It is sold and comes in a variety of earth and jewel tones. I will post the exact yarn and colour that I’ve used for each hat and scarf/pair of mittens below.
With the yarn, I am working with a 5 mm crochet hook. In the video tutorials (each hat pattern will feature a full video tutorial!), I will be using a Birchwood Crochet Hook by Rowan Yarns.

- Weave in ends as needed.
- OPTIONAL: Brim of hat may be worked using either single crochet stitches or half double crochet stitches instead of the slip stitches.
- To change the size of your beanie, work the first hdc round of the hat body in multiples of 2.
