The Feathers Beanie is a very cozy crochet beanie pattern.  I love this puffy texture of the feather stitch.

As you will have seen in the Feathers Ear Warmer Crochet Pattern, the feather stitch is a puff stitch cluster worked in the spaces between the stitches in the row or rounds below.  In this beanie pattern, the stitches are worked in rounds however, after joining at the end of each round you will turn your work.  This will ensure that the feather stitches are lying in their proper direction to give the feather look.

A crochet beanie worked in the feather stitch

The Construction:

The Feathers Beanie is worked from the bottom up.  The brim is an easy brim that is worked using half double crochet stitches in the third loop.  For the crown of the beanie, you will work feather stitch clusters which I will show you how to work in the video tutorial below.

The Materials:

The yarn shown in the photos above is called Scarfie by Lion Brand Yarn. It is an acrylic/wool blended yarn that is a bulky weight.  I love how cozy it looks and it’s gradually changing colours.  For the ear warmer you will need about one ball.  For this pattern you will also need a 6.5 mm crochet hook.  In the video tutorial below you will see me working with a Wooden Streamline crochet hook by Furls Crochet.

    Thank you for pattern.

  2. Kelly Broniszewski says:

Hi, it would be helpful if you added the steps for feather stitch cluster in the written pattern

  3. Louise Léger says:

What is a feather stitch “cluster”?

    1. RichTexturesCrochet says:

I would classify it as one, yes 🙂

  4. Louise Léger says:

Thank you so much for the quick and efficient response! Let me make sure I understand correctly: there is no difference between a “feather stitch” and a “feather stitch Cluster” … they are both the same. I just follow the description of the feather stitch .,. right?

    1. RichTexturesCrochet says:

Hello Louise, I apologize as I misunderstood your question – in the beanie pattern the cluster is different than that of the feather stitch: there is an extra yarn over and insert into the next chain space in the cluster. Although this was explained in the video tutorial I had neglected to include the difference in the written instruction but I have now updated the post to include the difference. I apologize for the confusion!

  5. Louise Léger says:

Thank you, Thank you. You are very attentive to our concerns. Now I feel better about starting this project. It is so beautiful! Have a great day!

      You too!

Hey! If I wanted to make this beanie for a mom and a matching one for baby, do you happen to have the pattern in the smaller size? Baby is 4 months!
