This Farmers Market Bag crochet pattern is a generous size, with a thick, robust texture that you will want to carry with you wherever you go!
It’s Farmers Market season! Every year in May I host the Marvellous Market Bag crochet along which features four to five are crochet market bag patterns. This year I had one bag left after the event that, sadly to say, didn’t make the cut!
But it wasn’t because I didn’t think the bag was fabulous. Instead it was simply because it was a little larger and used a little more yarn than the other bags featured. It also closely resembled the Leyburn Market bag in looks, although not in stitch and texture!
The Farmers Market Bag is crocheted all as one piece from the bottom up. I features an adapted simple weave crochet stitch pattern which makes this bag quite strong and stretchy. It can hold a lot!

Would you like to add a non-crochet bottom to your bag? I offer some tips here on “How to Add a Non-Crochet Bottom”.
The Materials:
For the Farmers Market Bag I used a worsted weight 100% cotton yarn called 24/7 by Lion Brand Yarn. I really love using cotton for market bags. Not only is it available in a wide range of colours, but it is also durable and holds its shape well, even when under a lot of stress!
The colour of yarn shown in the photos of the Farmers Market Bag Crochet pattern is White and you are going to need approximately three and a half balls, or 650 yards. You will also need a 4.00 mm (G/6) crochet hook.
