With Valentine’s Day approaching, I decided to rework these easy Tunisian crochet mug rugs.
These crochet mug rugs are worked in the Tunisian simple stitch. If you are new to Tunisian crochet, this is a great stitch to start out with. It’s easy to work and a great stitch to get you used to holding and working with the longer Tunisian crochet hook.

The Design:
These easy Tunisian crochet mug rugs are worked using only a small amount of yarn. If fact, one 1.5 oz ball of crochet cotton is enough to make 4 mug rugs!
The mug rugs are made by simply crocheting a small swatch of simple stitch. Afterward you will add a simple edging and then cross stitch a heart into the top.
In the earlier version of the pattern (Tunisian Crochet Heart Coasters and Hot Pad – A free Pattern), I made two squares that were joined together to make the rug extra thick.
These ones have a much simpler construction.
