Welcome to part two of week three in the Make it Your Way Crochet Along! Today we will make the Cone Stitch Afghan Square!
The cone stitch is one that I don’t see widely used in crochet projects, but it is one that creates a really thick, unique texture that I love in blankets!
Our blanket square today is worked in rows and to make the stitch a little less dense, you’ll see that I worked an extra row of single crochet in between the rows of cone stitches. It also makes the cone stitches themselves stand out much more!

The Cone Stitch itself is a fairly easy stitch to work. You will begin by working a couple of rows of single crochet. The next row will be cone stitches which are worked by drawing up loops in the previous row and in the row two rows below before completing the stitch. These spiked clusters are what creates the thickness in the design.
While the finished pattern is not exactly the same on both sides, it’s pretty close! Give it a try and see what you think!

The Make it Your Way Crochet Along:
This is week three, option two of the 2025 Make it Your Way Crochet Along!
We are now at the half way mark in our stitch sampler blanket crochet along. Thus far you will have worked four squares in two different stitch patterns and will choose between either the Wednesday Fur Stitch pattern or the Cone Stitch for this week.
The afghan square crochet patterns thus far have been:

November 7th: Option B: 488 yards total (122 yards per square): The Boxed Bead Afghan Square
Week Two:

If this is your first time hearing about the Make it Your Way Crochet Along, you will want to check out the Introduction and Materials post. Each week, during this event, I will provide two options for a crochet afghan square. You will choose one of the patterns, make four squares in each and at the end we will join the all together. You will then have your very own, beautiful stitch sampler blanket!

HAVE YOU HEARD? I have a new book out including 102 crochet stitches focused on texture and colour! If you love learning new crochet stitches, this book is for you! It is available on Amazon in ebook, paperback and hardcover formats. Learn more about it here: Intermediate Crochet Stitches
The Materials:
For the crochet along I have encouraged you to choose a favourite medium/worsted weight yarn – it can be new to your or from your stash, but choose a favourite! For my blanket I used two different colours, working two squares in each colour. For your finished blanket you will need a total of four squares. This square will be found in the final pattern for the Pumpkin Spice Blanket.
Each square will be designed in a worsted/medium weight yarn. For my blanket I will be using the Pound of Love yarn by Lion Brand Yarn. You will also need a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook.

Barn Quilt Blankets is a collection of five blanket crochet patterns that feature a beautiful geometric designs. The book is now available in both paperback and ebook formats on Amazon! You can read about it here: BARN QUILT BLANKETS
PDF Copies are now available:
