The texture in the fur stitch is so much fun and you are going to love the cozy vibes it creates in this Fur Stitch Afghan Square crochet pattern!
Welcome to week three of the 2025 Make it Your Way Crochet Along!
We are now approaching the half way mark in our stitch sampler blanket crochet along. Thus far you will have worked four squares in two different stitch patterns.
The afghan square crochet patterns thus far have been:
Week One:
November 5th: Option A: 564 yards total (141 yards per square): Herringbone Ribbing Afghan Square
November 7th: Option B: 488 yards total (122 yards per square): The Boxed Bead Afghan Square
Week Two:
November 12th: Option A: 716 yards total (179 yards per square): Raised Diagonal Square Crochet Pattern
November 14th: Option B: 512 yards total (128 yards per square): Sidesaddle Shell Afghan Square Crochet Pattern
If this is your first time hearing about the Make it Your Way Crochet Along, you will want to check out the Introduction and Materials post. Each week, during this event, I will provide two options for a crochet afghan square. You will choose one of the patterns, make four squares in each and at the end we will join the all together. You will then have your very own, beautiful stitch sampler blanket!
Our blanket square this week:

Our crochet blanket square this week is made using the fun and very textured fur stitch. This stitch pattern is created by alternating rows of single crochet stitches with rows of loop stitches. The loops stitches may feel a little awkward at first to work, but you will soon get used to them. When worked together in this way, they create a thick, almost carpet-like pattern that is so cozy in a blanket.
This square will be featured in the finished Tranquil Blue Blanket. I have the full PDF available now in my Etsy and Ravelry shops for those who wish. Otherwise, the full instructions for this square will be written out below.

The Materials:
For the crochet along I have encouraged you to choose a favourite medium/worsted weight yarn – it can be new to your or from your stash, but choose a favourite! For my blanket I used two different colours, working two squares in each colour. For your finished blanket you will need a total of four squares. This square will be found in the final pattern for the Tranquil Blue Blanket.
Each square will be designed in a worsted/medium weight yarn. For my blanket I will be using the Pound of Love yarn by Lion Brand Yarn. You will also need a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook.

Barn Quilt Blankets is a collection of five blanket crochet patterns that feature a beautiful geometric designs. The book is now available in both paperback and ebook formats on Amazon! You can read about it here: BARN QUILT BLANKETS
