Learn how to crochet this super easy Festive Christmas Tree crochet pattern that is worked around a simple floral foam cone.

As the holidays approach you may be looking for a crochet ornament to adorn your fireplace mantle, shelf or as a table centre piece. These Easy Festive crochet Christmas Trees may be perfect!

They are so easy to make. You will simply crochet a ribbon to the desired length, the wrap it around a foam floral cone and pin into place! I have the instructions here for three different sizes. The smallest of the three only took about two hours to make!

How to make a crochet Christmas Tree:

To make these trees, you will want to have a foam floral cone. The sizes I chose are approximately 6 inches for the small, 9 inches for the medium, and 12 inches for the large.

First, begin by crocheting a long foundation chain to the stitch counts below and work your crochet ribbon in rows using basic crochet stitches.

Next, once the ribbon is complete, begin wrapping the ribbon around the bottom of the floral cone and work your way to the top. As you wrap the ribbon you will use round headed straight pin to tack it in place. My pins were about 1 cm long, but you could certainly use the longer ones if you wish.

Finally, once the ribbon is in place, you may decorate as you wish! I found some perfect floral picks that had “berries” on them. I cut the berries off leaving about 1 cm of wire and then push them into the cone to create larger ornaments. Check out the full video tutorial below!

What yarn do I need to crochet a Christmas tree?

For my Christmas trees I used about 100-200 yards of a worsted weight/medium weight yarn in the colour green. Below you will see me working with the Patons Canadianna yarn by Yarnspirations which is a 100% acrylic yarn. You may certainly use any medium/worsted weight yarn of your choice. I have also worked the tree in other fibres such as wool and it has turned out beautifully!

All of the information about the exact materials I used will be written out in full below with the free crochet pattern.
