I love these little minimalistic crochet Christmas tree ornaments! The Cinnamon Tree Christmas Ornament Crochet Pattern is so easy and quick to work!

And the use of a cinnamon stick for the tree trunk means that you will have the light scent of cinnamon in the air all season! Not a fan of cinnamon? No worries, grab a twig from outdoors and you’re all set!

Two Crochet Christmas Tree ornaments made with cinnamon sticks

These little trees are very easy and quick to work.  I’ve made mine using a 100% cotton yarn.  They are worked in a round starting at the top and working your way down increasing in stitches as you go.  You may use some beads at the top as I have to help it stand out all the more.  The Cinnamon stick provides a light scent all season and add a fun contrasting texture that resembles the tree trunk on your ornament.  As mentioned above, you may substitute the cinnamon stitch for a piece of real wood!

I love making these ornaments and look forward to hanging a few on my tree this year! I hope that you enjoy them as well and look forward to seeing them hang on yours.

The Materials:

For this pattern I have used a 100% cotton yarn called Dishie by WeCrochet.  It is a worsted/medium weight yarn.  You will need two different colours (if you would like yours similar to the ones I have here!) and you will not need much – only about 30-40 yards in total! This is the same yarn that I used in the Rustic Village Christmas Ornament Crochet Pattern.

You will also need a 3.5 mm crochet hook. The hook shown in the video below is a 3.5 mm birchwood crochet hook by Rowan Yarns.

Fasten off, weave in your ends (for a taller tree, continue working rounds increasing as above).  Attach beads if desired – I secured them by cutting a short length of yarn that I would use for my hanger, attached the hanger through the top of the tree, thread the beads onto the hanger and then tied a knot in order to secure the beads.

Using your hot glue gun, spread glue on one end of a cinnamon stick, carefully insert the cinnamon stick up into the tree and hold at the top until glue is dry.
