Whether it’s for around your own home, for a craft fair or as a gift for others, crochet dishcloths, like this Carolina Dishcloth crochet pattern, are a practical item to make!
They are also a great way to use up smaller amounts of cotton yarn and try out new and/or favourite crochet stitches.
The Carolina Dishcloth crochet pattern is an easy pattern to work. It features rows of textured puff stitches and other stitches that I like to call the Moon Stitch.
The combination of easy stitches makes for a pretty dishcloth that is not too dense, and has just the right amount of texture.

I love crocheting washcloths and dish cloths. I keep them on hand for my own home and as gifts. I especially enjoy working them alongside larger projects like blankets and will alternate between the two. I have a number of dishcloth designs here on Rich Textures Crochet. Most recently I designed the Macy Washcloth which you may also wish to check out!

Materials for this Tutorial:
I always use a cotton yarn for my washcloths and dishcloths. Cotton yarn holds up well to multiple washes, is resistant to heat, and is absorbent.
For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of cotton yarn in one colour. This yarn is a worsted weight yarn 100% cotton yarn called Pima Cotton by Lion Brand Yarn. I will also be using a 5 mm crochet hook. The hook you will see me using in the video tutorial below is a favourite Birchwood Crochet Hook by Rowan Yarns.
