Wrap yourself in cozy comfort with this easy and mindless Sweet as Honey Blanket crochet pattern!
I recently picked up a few of the Caron Cloud Cakes Perfect Phasing cakes at my local Michaels store and I must say, I am in love!
They are super soft, lightweight, and have a beautiful and satisfying colour change. I worked up a couple of scarves using the yarn I had purchased (these patterns will be coming later this month) and then had to go back for more as I designed this new throw blanket for my studio.
(I will confess though, my youngest has now fallen in love with it, so it looks like I am going to have to make another for myself!)

The Sweet as Honey Blanket crochet pattern is simply worked along the short edges. It starts with a textured double crochet ribbing, the body is a solid shell stitch texture and then you will finish off the blanket with some more ribbing. It is worked all as one piece but as the yarn is on the lighter side, it’s not too burdensome to work under.

If you enjoy working crochet blankets, I invite you to check out my book: Barn Quilt Blankets! It is a collection of five blanket crochet patterns that feature a beautiful geometric designs. The book is now available in both paperback and ebook formats on Amazon! You can read about it here: BARN QUILT BLANKETS
I love the texture and weight of the finished blanket. The Sweet as Honey Blanket crochet pattern really is sweat and a dream to curl up under with a cup of coffee and a book or new crochet project!

What Materials do you need to make this crochet blanket?
For the project, which measures approximately 50 inches by 52 inches, I used four of the Perfect Phasing Caron Cloud Cakes by Yarnspirations available at Michaels. The colour changes in the yarn is such that is flows smoothly from the dark shade to the light. The cakes are conveniently all structured the same way with the dark at the centre.
To start my blanket, I started first with the darker gold colour and moved to the light. When it came to joining the next cake, instead of pulling from the centre, I started at the outside edge so that the colours flowed smoothly from dark to light and then to dark again. I finished off the blanket with the darker gold colour.
Along with the four cakes of yarn, I opted for a 5 mm crochet hook.

- Pattern is written in American English terms.
- Pattern is worked in rows.
- Ch 1 at beginning of row does not count as stitch.
- Weave in ends as needed.
- To change the size of your blanket you will need a multiple of 4 stitches, plus 3 stitches for your foundation chain.
- NOTE ABOUT ADDING NEW BALL OF YARN: To achieve the colour phasing so that it moves from dark to light, to dark again, when adding the new ball of yarn you will continue from the end (either middle or outside) that has the same colour you left off on. For example, if you finished off on the white colour, you will join your new cake of yarn starting from the outside white colour and continue into the dark. And vice versa if you end off on the darker centre colour.
