The Inset Brick Stitch is an easy crochet stitch with a liner texture.  It is worked very simply with sets of double crochet stitches being worked in between front triple/treble stitches.

And best of all, the stitch works up very quickly! The design is a two row repeat with single crochet and chain stitches being worked very other row.  The final fabric is not completely solid in the end and is one that has plenty of drape.  This pattern would work well in a variety of projects: shawls, blankets, market bags – you name it!

A textured Crochet stitches pattern featuring double crochet and front post triple stitches

Materials for this Tutorial:

For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Pima Cotton Yarn by Lion Brand Yarn. It is a worsted weight yarn. The hook shown in the video below is a 5 mm crochet hook by Rowan Yarns.  However you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.

Thank you so much for stopping by! If you enjoy the tutorial below, be sure to also check out some of the many other crochet stitch tutorials on my site and pin this for later! You may wish to start with the Arrow Stitch | How to Crochet.

The Inset Brick Stitch:

Abbreviations:

Ch – Chain

Dc – Double Crochet

Fptr – Front Post Triple/Treble Stitch

Rpt – Repeat

Sc – Single Crochet

Sk – Skip

Sl St – Slip Stitch

Yo – Yarn Over

Notes:

This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial.

To begin, make a slip knot and then chain your desired number of chains.  For this stitch pattern you will need a multiple of four stitches for your foundation chain plus two (multiples of 4+2).

For example, ch 22.

Row One:

Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook, *ch 4, sk the next 3 chs, sc in the next st; Rpt from * across.  Ch 3, turn.

Row Two:

*3 dc into the next ch-4 sp, dc in the next sc; rpt from * across.  Dc in the final st.  ch 1, turn.

Row Three:

Sc in the 1st st, *ch 4, sk the next 3 sts, sc in the next st; rpt from * across.  Ch 3, turn.

Row Four:

*3 dc in the next ch-4 sp, fptr in the next st 2 rows below; Rpt from * across, dc in the top of the starting ch-3.  ch 1, turn.

And that’s it!

For the rest of the pattern, simply repeat rows 3 and 4.  Fasten off and weave in your ends.
