Whip up a set of these fun drink coasters with this Summer Vibes Coaster Crochet Pattern! They will instantly brighten up your space!
Summer is on its way and perhaps you are thinking about hosting friends and family, or perhaps looking to simply freshen up your own home. These Summer Vibes Coasters are a great way to brighten up any space and add a touch of hospitality for your guests.

I love this Summer Vibes Coaster crochet pattern for many reasons. First, they work up quickly. They feature a great reversible texture and can be customized as far as their colour and size is concerned. I have worked mine in bright seasonal summer colours to brighten up my patio table.
The other great thing about these coasters is that when it comes to finishing them off, there is no weaving in of ends! Instead, you will simply tie the ends off in knots as I will demonstrate in the video tutorial below.

What do I need to make crochet coasters?
When working many items for the kitten or home like dishcloths, hot pads, cup cozies and coasters, I like to use a 100% cotton yarn. Cotton yarn comes in an array of beautiful colours, it durable and holds up with frequent washes and high temperatures.
For the Summer Vibes Coaster crochet pattern I went with a worsted/medium weight 100% cotton called 24/7 Cotton by Lion Brand Yarn. I worked my coasters in two different colours (you may wish to work them in more or less). Along with the yarn you will need a 4mm (G/6) crochet hook.]

Rows 5-16: Repeat rows 3 and 4 six more times.
Row 17: With colour A, sc in the 1st st and in each st across.
Fasten off.
Fringe:
Cut more lengths of yarn (about 10 -12 inches each) so that you have an extra 2 pieces to add to each tail left on either side. (More if you wish a thicker fringe)
At the end of each row where a tail has been left, thread two strands of yarn through the end and fold so that the two ends meet. Gather all the tails and simply tie into a knot. Repeat all the way across each side.
Trim the fringe tails so that they are even (I left about an inch).
