Freezies are such a favourite treat in our house during the summer months! But they are so cold for my children’s little fingers – the solution? A simple freezie cover!

These covers are simple and quick to make up! I’ve made them using %100 cotton to help protect against the cold.  They are machine washable and dryable.  Make a bunch at the start of the summer, throw them in your bag as you head out to the park!

They are great for schools and daycares, a quick and easy seller at summer craft fairs and sales.

These sleeves are open at the bottom which makes them great for both the smaller freezies and larger ones.  My kids also love to use them with frozen yogurt tubes.

Freezie sleeve

Skill Level: Beginner
Gauge: 4 sc x 4 rows = 1 inch
Yarn: Handicrafter Cotton™ by Bernat™ (100% Cotton; 50 g / 1.75 oz, 73 meters / 80 yards); Medium/ Worsted weight. Your choice of color, a small amount per sleeve (Each ball of yarn this size makes 7 sleeves).
Hook: Size H/8 (5 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions: Yarn Needle.
Finished Size: 3.5 inches tall, 1.5 inches across laid flat.

Stitches and Abbreviations:
Rpt – repeat
Ch – chain
Sc – Single Crochet
Sl st – slip stitch

Pattern Notes:
– Pattern is written in American English terms.
– Ch 1 at beg of rnd does not count as sc.
– Pattern is worked in rounds.
– Weave in ends as needed.

Pattern:

Pattern:
Ch 12. Being careful not to twist chain, join with a sl st in first ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around, join with a sl st in first sc. Do not turn. (12 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in first sc. Do not turn. (12 sc)

Repeat last rnd 13 more times (total of 15 rounds). Fasten off. Weave in ends.

(If you would like your sleeve longer, add more rnds until desired length is reached!
