The Ruled Lattice Stitch is an easy crochet stitch.  It is made using easy single crochet and chain stitches!

The result of the rows of chain stitches between rows of single crochet stitches, is an open lace lattice stitch.

The stitch is interesting to look at and fairly strong, making it a good candidate for crochet patterns such as market bags, but also shawls and wraps.

Materials:

For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Cotton Aran by Paintbox Yarns. It is an aran weight yarn. The hook shown here and in the video below is a wooden streamline hook by Furls Crochet. However you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.

Following the written pattern below, you will also find a free video tutorial!

The Ruled Lattice Stitch:

This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial.

To begin, make a slip knot and then chain your desired number of chains.  For this stitch pattern you will need to chain a multiple of four stitches plus two for your foundation chain.

Row One:

Single crochet into the second chain from your hook and into each chain all the way across.

Chain seven and turn your work.

Row Two:

Skip the first two stitches, single crochet into the next stitch, * chain seven, skip the next three stitches, single crochet into the next stitch.

Repeat from * across to the final two stitches, chain three, skip the next stitch, double crochet into the next stitch.

Chain one and turn your work.

Row Three:

Single Crochet into the first stitch, * chain three, single crochet into the next chain seven space.

Repeat from * across to the end.

Chain one and turn your work.

Row Four:

Single crochet into the first stitch, * work three single crochet into the next chain three space, single crochet into the next single crochet stitch.

Repeat from * across.

Chain seven and turn your work.

And that’s it!

For the rest of the pattern repeat rows two to four.  Fasten off and weave in your ends.
