You are going to love the thick, reversible texture found in this beautiful Harvest Stitch crochet pattern!

As we move through fall and into the winter, I find myself gravitating to thick, textured stitches that would make wonderful blankets and winter accessories. The Harvest stitch is one of my new favourites!

This reversible crochet stitch is a simple two row repeat. It’s comprised of basic single crochet stitches and puff stitches that are nestled into one another. The result is a vine that runs along the length of the fabric. It’s so cozy and perfect for the fall harvest season!

The Materials:

For this tutorial today, I will be using a small amount of Heatherly by KnitPicks and WeCrochet in a single colour. You are also able to work this stitch in a single colour or more. The Heatherly yarn is a medium/worsted weight yarn that is a wool blend. Along with my worsted weight yarn, I will also be working with a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook.

Pattern Notes:

This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a single colour.

This pattern is written in American crochet terms.

To begin, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch pattern you will need a multiple of five stitches, plus 1 (5+1) for your foundation chain.

Chain 1 at the start of a row does not count as a stitch.

For example, ch 31.

Harvest Stitch Crochet Pattern:

Row One:

Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and into each ch across.  Ch 1, turn.

Row Two:

Sc in the 1st st and in each st across.  Ch 1, turn.

Row Three:

Sc in the 1st st, *sk the next st, puff st in the next st 3 rows below, sc in the next st of the previous row (above where you worked the puff st), puff st back into the same st 3 rows below, sk the stitch that falls under the puff st and sc in each of the next 2 sts; Rpt from * across ending with a sc in the final st. Ch 1, turn.

And that’s it!

For the rest of the pattern simply repeat rows two and three. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
