You will love the deep ridges of texture in this HDC Slip Stitch Ridges crochet pattern! It would make a gorgeous blanket.
The half double crochet (hdc) slip stitch is a stitch that has a wonderful texture that’s reversible. Often you will see it used in ribbing when worked into the back loop only. Today we will be working the stitch in a combination of back loop only and third loop.
It creates a stitch that has a deep ribbing although I am hesitant to call it a ribbing simply because it does not hold its shape. I am not convinced that it would make a good ribbing for something like a hat, but I do believe it would be gorgeous in blankets and scarves.

The Materials:
For this tutorial today, I will be using a small amount of Heatherly by KnitPicks and WeCrochet in a single colour. You are also able to work this stitch in a single colour or more. The Heatherly yarn is a medium/worsted weight yarn that is a wool blend. Along with my worsted weight yarn, I will also be working with a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook.

Pattern Notes:
This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a single colour.
This pattern is written in American crochet terms.
To begin, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch pattern you may use any number of stitches for your foundation chain.
Chain 1 at the start of a row does not count as a stitch.
For example, ch 30.
Row One:
Hdc sl st in 2nd ch from your hook and into each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Row Two:
Working in the blo all the way across, hdc sl st in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Row Three:
Working in the 3rd loop all the way across, hdc sl st in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Row Four:
Working in the 3rd loop all the way across, hdc sl st in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Row Five:
Working in the blo all the way across, hdc sl st in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
And that’s it!
For the rest of the pattern simply repeat rows 2-5. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
