The Happy Trails Beanie crochet pattern features a unique design that goes wonderfully with your crochet Happy Trails Scarf!
About a year ago I designed a crochet scarf pattern called the Happy Trails Scarf. After its release I received numerous requests for a matching crochet beanie.
The set is now complete with this Happy Trails Beanie crochet pattern. Both of the designs feature a wide herringbone crochet stitch pattern that is absolutely stunning. It creates a unique and eye-catching pattern of arrowhead ridges that run along the surface of the fabric.

I decided to work this design in a unique way, almost entirely in rows. To work the Happy Trails Beanie crochet pattern, you will work the brim of the hat followed by one round of stitches. You will then work another long foundation chain that forms the height of the hat, before continuing to work the body of the hat in rows.
To finish off the hat you will sew (or slip stitch) the two sides together and then sew the top of the hat closed. I show you my favourite method for sewing the hat closed in the video tutorial below.

NOTE: The remainder of the hat body will be worked in rows.
From where you joined in the top of the 1st st, ch 32. If you wish to change the height of your hat you will need a stitch multiple for this chain of 10 stitches, plus 2 more.

Row 6 onward: Repeat rows 4 and 5 until you come to the final st in your hat brim.
Now working along the final edges of your hat, sl st through both thicknesses, joining both sides together. You may also choose to sew the two sides together to achieve a more invisible seam.
Fasten off, and weave in your ends. Take a piece of yarn and sew around the top of your hat to bring the top together. Fasten off and add a pompom to the top if desired.
