This Golden Beanie features a beautiful texture and is worked in a unique way: with a magic ring or a chain ring at the top!
The ring at the top makes it really easy when it comes to closing the top of your hat. I have worked a few hats in this way, including the popular Rocky Beanie Crochet Pattern. It’s a great way to work a hat as it is easily customizable. I will include a hat sizing chart down below in case you would like to try this pattern out in a variety of sizes. Don’t forget to check out the matching cowl: Golden Cowl Crochet Pattern!

Free Crochet Pattern:
Start by making a magic circle, then working out from that circle, ch 40. (Alternatively you may ch 10 and join with a sl st in the first st to make a ring prior to chaining 40.)
Row 1: Sl st in the 2nd ch from hook and in each of the next 10 sts, *hdc in the next st, sl st in the next st; rpt across, sl st into ring, ch 1, turn. (40 sts)
Row 2: *hdc in the next sl st, sl st in the next hdc; rpt from * across to the final 11 sl sts, working in the blo, sl st in each of the final 11 sts. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: In the blo, Sl st in each of the next 11 sts, *hdc in the next st, sl st in the next st; rpt across, sl st into ring, ch 1, turn.
Rows 4-95: repeat rows 2 and 3.
To work the seam, working through both sides, sl st in each st across crocheting the two ends together. Fasten off.
Pull the magic ring at the top of the hat gently closed and sew if needed. Fasten off and weave in your ends. Make optional pompom and affix to the top.
