The Forest Beanie crochet pattern is a wonderful hat design that is perfect for when you are wanting a lighter weight beanie.
The Elizabeth Stitch, or the Mini Bean Stitch, has always been a favourite croceht stitch for me. It is reversible with a similar texture on both sides and I love it’s textures as it is not too thick or dense. Recently I started working it in two different colours which creates a dynamic tweed look. I was excited to try it in this new crochet hat pattern.
The Forest Beanie Crochet Pattern is a fairly easy hat to make. It is worked in two colours from the brim up (which is my favourite way to make a hat) and features a slip stitch brim. I realize that slip stitch brims are not everyones favourite, so feel free to work single crochet stitches for your brim instead.

The Materials:
To work this crochet hat pattern I chose a lighter weight yarn called Valley Tweed by Rowan. This wool yarn comes in a variety of gorgeous colours that make for a beautiful hat. Sometimes you don’t want a hat that is on the more bulky side so I love this light weight yarn for it. If you wish to try a similar design in a worsted weight yarn, you may wish to check out the Elizabeth Beanie, another free crochet hat pattern here on Rich Textures Crochet.
Along with the Fingering weight yarn you will also need a 3.5 mm (E/4) crochet hook. In the video tutorial below you will see me working with a Birchwood Crochet Hook also by Rowan.
