The Fireside Slippers crochet pattern is so cozy with its double thick soles and worked in a super bulky weight yarn.

This means that they also work up fairly quickly!

I have been wanting to design a new crochet slipper pattern for a while now. During the cooler months and the winter months, slippers are a must in our house on our cool wood floors. Not too long after I made the first pair (for myself), everyone in the house was asking for their own! This meant that I definitely had to expand the sizing.

A collection of crochet slippers in a variety of sizes

The Fireside Slippers crochet pattern includes the sizing for four sizes. The slippers are designed to be gender neutral so I have tried to including this in the sizing as well. One of the nice things about this slipper is that there is a little bit of stretch to them. So even the US size women’s 9-13 which is about US size 8-12, still fits even my husband who wears a size 13!

The other wonderful feature about these Fireside slippers is their double thick sole! It makes them so cozy to wear and gives a little extra cushion for your feet. I do also recommend adding a bit of sock stop, hot glue or puff paint to the bottom of the slippers when there may be a concern of slipping. Yarn can be quite slippery to walk on when walking on smooth surfaces!

The Materials:

I mentioned above that for these slippers I used a super bulky weight yarn. The yarn shown here in my photos and in the video tutorial down below is a wool blend yarn called Wool Ease Thick & Quick by Lion Brand Yarn. This yarn makes a wonderful yarn for slippers and comes in a variety of colours. Along with it I used a 10 mm (N/15) crochet hook.

Pattern Notes:

  • Pattern is written in American English terms.
  • Pattern is worked in rounds.
  • Turn your work as instructed
  • Ch 1 at the beginning of the round does not count as a stitch.
  • Weave in ends as needed.
  • The sole of this slipper is double thick.  You will work two soles for each slipper and crochet them together as per the instructions below.
  • Yarn can be slippery on smooth flooring when used in footwear! I recommend using a product like sock stop or even hot glue (hot glue gun) on the bottom of the slipper to create a better grip and help prevent slipping.

Just noticed that in the pattern for the XL slippers, starting chain should be 14 not 13.

  2. Thank you so much for creating and providing this slipper pattern. I’ve been searching for one for years. The only thick and bulky one I found was for a knitting loom and I’ve yet to figure it out. I can’t wait to make these!
