The Double Crochet Cluster stitch is so pretty! You will love the texture of this crochet stitch and the fact that it is a one row repeat!

This stitch pattern is a solid pattern. There are no holes or gaps. It is worked in rows back and forth. As the cluster stitches pop out on both sides, it means that the end resulting fabric is the same on both sides.

The Double Crochet Cluster Stitch

I would love to see this stitch worked in some blankets or cozy cardigans! Mix it up with some colour stripes and the possibilities are endless.

Materials:

For this tutorial I will be using the Caron x Pantone yarn by Yarnspirations along with a 5.5 mm crochet hook.  The hook shown here and in the video below is an Odyssey hook by Furls Crochet. However you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.

Double Crochet Cluster Stitch:

This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial.  At the end of each row you will need to chain 1 and turn your work.

Don’t forget to check out the free video tutorial linked below!

To begin, make a slip knot and then chain your desired number of chains.  For this stitch pattern you will need any even multiple of stitches (multiples of 2) for your foundation chain.

For my swatch I will be making a foundation chain of 20 chain stitches.

Special Stitch: Dc2tog Cl

Dc2tog Cl is the abbreviation for a double crochet two together cluster stitch. To work this stitch:

*Yarn over and insert your hook into the space indicated. Yarn over and pull up a loop.

This stitch is absolutely super easy once you get the hang of..which I had no problem..I am incorporating this stitch in a afghan that I’m making for my granddaughter and her husband..

I’m just learning how to crochet and this stitch is a nice break from the basic stitches. Your video instructions are easy to follow and I have made my first “small” project using this stitch. It is so pretty. I love the texture.

Do you have a book of written instructions for all of your stitches. If not, you should consider it. I know crocheters would happily pay for such a gem! I would!!
