The Blanket Stitch crochet pattern falls under the category of classic crochet stitches that has been around for a while and loved by many.
And it’s easy to see why! The Blanket Crochet Stitch is comprised of very basic crochet stitches (single crochet and double crochet) and is a one row repeat. That being said, the texture that the pattern creates is absolutely beautiful!
It’s like gentle waves rolling across your fabric and it is reversible. This is why it’s such an amazing stitch for blankets.

If you are looking for more crochet stitch patterns using basic crochet stitches that would look beautiful in a blanket, I invite you to also try the Suzette Stitch.
The Materials:
For this tutorial today, I will be using a small amount of Heatherly by KnitPicks and WeCrochet in a single colour. You are also able to work this stitch in a single colour or more. The Heatherly yarn is a medium/worsted weight yarn that is a wool blend. Along with my worsted weight yarn, I will also be working with a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook.

Pattern Notes:
This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a single colour.
This pattern is written in American crochet terms.
The turning ch-2 does not count as a stitch.
To begin, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch pattern, you will need a foundation chain with a multiple of 3 stitches.
For example, ch 30.
Row One:
2 dc in the 3rd ch from your hook, sk the next 2 chs, *[sc, 2 dc] in the next st, sk the next 2 chs; Rpt from * across to the final ch-2 sp, sc in the final ch. Ch 2, turn.
Row Two:
2 dc in the 1st st, sk the next 2 sts, *[sc, 2 dc] in the next st, sk the next 2 chs; Rpt from * across to the final ch-2 sp, sc in the final ch-2 sp. Ch 2, turn.
And that’s it!
For the rest of the pattern simply repeat row two for the pattern. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
