The Twig Stitch Crochet Pattern is a dainty design created almost entirely out of single crochet and chain stitches.
The end result is very pretty as a solid fabric that is nearly the same on both sides. The Twig Stitch is one that you will want to have on hand for almost any crochet project, from crochet baby blankets, to washcloths and even crochet garments!
It is a simple two row repeat
The Materials:
For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Heatherly by KnitPicks and WeCrochet in a single colour. It is a worsted-weight yarn. You could also work this pattern in two or more colours. I will also be working with a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook. However, you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.

Stitches and Abbreviations:
Ch – Chain Stitch
Rpt – Repeat
Sc – Single Crochet
Sl St – Slip Stitch
Yo – Yarn Over
Pattern Notes:
This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a single colour.
This pattern is written in American crochet terms.
To begin, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch, you will need an odd number of chain stitches for your foundation chain.
For example, ch 31.
Row One:
Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook, sc in each st across, ch 1, turn.
Row Two:
Sc in the 1st st, sk the next st, [sc, ch 1, sc] in the next st, *sk the next st, [sc, ch 1, sc] in the next st; Rpt from * across, sc in the final st. Ch 1, turn.
Row Three:
Sc in the 1st st, *3 sc in the next ch-1 sp; Rpt from * across, sc in the top of the final st. Ch 1, turn.
Row Four:
Sc in the 1st st, sk the next st, [sc, ch 1, sc] in the next st, *sk the next 2 sts, [sc, ch 1, sc] in the next st; Rpt from * across until 2 sts remain, sk the next st, sc in the final st. Ch 1, turn.
And that’s it!
For the rest of the pattern simply repeat rows 3 and 4. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
