The True Colours Throw Crochet Pattern is wonderfully simple to work while showing off some of your favourite colours!

I love the crochet moss stitch.  It is easy to work and features a beautiful solid texture.  I feel that is the perfect weight for crochet blankets and has a classic look that one can cherish for years to come.

The True Colours Throw is worked in the moss stitch.  It features blocks of colours but instead of crocheting each block separately and then joining, this blanket is worked all as one piece.  In this way it is similar to my popular Lavender Throw Free Crochet Pattern.

A Crochet Blanket featuring nine different coloured blocks

Materials:

For this crochet blanket, you will need nine different colours of yarn.  I invite you to choose your favourites! In my sample I have used a 100% acrylic yarn called Heartland by Lion Brand Yarn.  It is super soft and features a variety of beautiful earth tone colours.  The colours selected are as follows: Grand Canyon (Colour A), Mammoth Cave (Colour B), Sequoia (Colour C), Yosemite (Colour D), Petrified Forest (Colour E), Canyonlands (Colour F), Great Smoky Mountains (Colour G), Hot Springs (Colour H), Olympic (Colour I).  There are so many colour options!

I have paired the yarn with a 5 mm crochet hook and in the video below you will see me using a Birchwood Hook by Rowan Yarns – one of my favourites!

  1. Kathie Berg says:

Puzzled by the gauge in True Colors. My swatch of 17 stitches across and 32 rows (of single crochet chain 1) is 4” wide and 8” long. Is it really 32 rows???

    1. RichTexturesCrochet says:

Yes, as the stitches are worked in between each other when working the moss stitch so it makes the rows much closer together 🙂

  2. I watched the tutorial for this blanket, but I am unclear on how you carry the yarns up the piece as the colors are changed, therefor not having lots of ends to weave in. Can you clarify please? Thank you.
