The Simply Nesting Blanket is a blanket with a great texture and endless possibilities for colour!

After learning how to work the Nesting V Crochet Stitch earlier this year, I just knew that I wanted to use it in a blanket crochet pattern! With a new baby in my extended family on the way, I grabbed some cotton yarn and set to work!

The Simply Nesting Blanket design that you will see below was worked up in a crib blanket size but I do provide some guidance below should you like to work it larger!

A Crochet Baby Blanket worked in rose, blue and grey yarn

I love blankets that are worked in a cotton yarn.  They are tough in the wash, warm, but cool to the touch, breathable and hypoallergenic. They perfect for a new baby! I decided to work this one up in the Pima Cotton by Lion Brand Yarn which features a beautiful colour selection and is very soft.

The tricky part when working with cotton is keeping the stitches loose so that the blanket is not too stiff.  So the long stitches and nesting stitches in this pattern are worked loosely using a 5 mm crochet hook.  You will see me using a birchwood hook by Rowan Yarns in the video tutorial below.
