The Ridley Beanie crochet pattern is a wonderful unisex hat design that can be customized by working it in a variety of colours!
Work the hat in a single colour, in two as I have or more depending on your preference and what you have on hand. The hat, with its easy distinguishable colour stripes is a great hat for your yarn scraps. You can wear this hat with a pompom or without!
This Ridley Beanie crochet pattern is worked from the brim up which is really my favourite way to work a hat. I love the shape and the snugness that this method provides. I have provided the instructions below for an adult size, but I will provide a little direction should you wish to change the size.
One thing to take note of when working this hat that the colour stripes are worked in a stitch pattern sometimes called the moss or linen stitch. This stitch pattern does not have a lot of stretch to it so when working the hat you will want to make sure that you provide enough stitches in the hat body so that it is not too snug.
The Materials:
For the Ridley Beanie crochet pattern I used the Heartland Yarn by Lion Brand. It is one of my favourite acrylic yarns to work hats in. The colour selection is gorgeous, its thick and very soft. It makes for a very cozy hat!
Along with the yarn you will also need a 5 mm crochet hook. In the video tutorial below you will see me using a Clover Soft Touch crochet hook.
