The Making Waves Market Bag is an easy crochet market bag. It uses basic crochet stitches and the body is an easy two round repeat.

Welcome to Week Two of the The Marvellous Market Bag Crochet Along! Todays crochet market bag pattern is the smallest of the market bags.  It is also the one with the least amount of stretch in it.

As mentioned above, though, this market bag is made with basic crochet stitches including single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet and triple/treble crochet stitches.  The body of the bag is an easy repeat including rounds of a wave stitches and rounds of single crochet stitches.

The Making Waves Crochet Market Bag

The Materials:

This crochet market bag is worked in a 100% cotton. I find cotton best for market bags as it holds its shape and has less stretch than an acrylic.

For this market bag I will be using the Pima Cotton by Lion Brand yarn. It is a super soft 100% worsted/medium weight cotton. Any worsted weight cotton will do though! In total you will need about 500 yards – the exact amounts of each colour can be found below.

I will also be using a 5 mm crochet hook. In the video tutorial below I will be using my favourite wooden streamline hook in Ebony by Furls Crochet.

      You’re very welcome 🙂

  2. Leigh Ann says:

Says to repeat rows 13 and 14 fourteen times…… is that correct? The finished bag looks like it would be chain 4 then double crochet, half double, single crochet for row 15?

  3. Lori Snyder says:

the written instructions when worked do not look like the picture….it appears that the wavy rows should be staggered yet when worked as written they sit one on top of the other. Could a correction be made to the pattern please and thank you so much. 🙂

  4. Gail Armstrong says:

Hi Sarah, are there some steps missing for this bag. When I look at your work I see that the waves are staggered. Would love mine to look like that. Thanks!
