This Easy Twist Stitch crochet pattern is going to be a favourite because it’s so much fun to work!
And, as the name says, the stitch pattern is easy! Crochet cables can be intimidating, but don’t let that hold you back when it comes to this stitch pattern. The Easy Twist stitch is a wonderful two-row repeat and the only stitches you will need to know are the slip stitch, front post double crochet and classic double crochet.
The first front post double crochet row does take a little bit of counting, after working this row, it’s much easier to see where you will place your post stitches in the rows following. There are so many ways to use this stitch!

The Materials:
For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Heatherly by KnitPicks and WeCrochet in a single colour. It is a blended worsted-weight yarn. I will also be working with a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook. In the video tutorial below, you will see me working with a Birchwood Crochet Hook by Rowan. However, you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.

Pattern Notes:
This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a solid colour.
This pattern is written in American crochet terms.
To begin, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch, you will need an even number of stitches for your foundation chain.
For example, ch 30.
Row One:
Dc in the 4th ch from your hook and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Row Two:
Sl st in 1st and in each st across. Ch 3 (counts as a dc here and throughout), turn.
Row Three:
Sk the next st, *fpdc in the next dc 2 rows below, dc in the previous sk st of the previous row, sk the next st; Rpt from * across to the final st, dc in the final st. Ch 1, turn.
And that’s it!
For the rest of the pattern simply repeat rows two and three, fasten off and weave in your ends.

Very pretty, but i must say it’s a mouthful to say on your part, saying the stitch in the tutorial! Thanks Sarah
