The Daydreamer Scarf is soft and luxurious featuring a beautiful, seamless colour change throughout.

Not too long ago I picked up some of the Perfect Phasing Cloud Cakes by Yarnspirations at my local Michael’s store. I was attracted initially to their gradual colour change from dark to light and then by their softness!

Because the yarn is so soft, it does feel a little slippery to work with at first, but after a few rows I fell into an easy rhythm.

And the results were so worth it!

The Daydreamer Scarf Crochet Pattern is worked along the short ends so that there are now long foundation chains.

To begin the scarf, you will start by cutting off approximately 15-20 yards that you will use once the scarf is complete to work the fringe along the starting end. This will ensure that your fringe along the starting edge continues with the seamless colour.

Alternatively, if you have an extra yarn cake on hand, you may use some of the starting colour from the other cake.

The stitch pattern used is sometimes called the “Sedge Stitch.” It features an easy pattern of single, half double and double crochet stitches.

From your starting colour cut approximately 10-15 yards and set aside for working the fringe at the end.

Ch 40

Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each st across.  Ch 1, turn.  (39 sts)

Row 2: [hdc, dc] in 1st st, *sk the next 2 sts, [sc, hdc, dc] in the next st; Rpt from * across to the final 2 sts, sk the next st, sc in the final st.  Ch 1, turn.

Rows 3 onward: Repeat row 2 until your scarf measures approximately 74 inches or the desired length.

Do not fasten off, but continue to fringe.

For the Fringe:

Row 1: Sl st in the first st, *pull up loop until it measures approximately 7-8 inches, place your finger over the loop on the crochet hook to hold it in place. Rotate your hook clockwise about 15-16 times, bring your hook down and insert it into the next st on your scarf edge and sl st in that st.  Straighten out the twist by gently pulling on the twist.

At this time you can either sl st into the next st and rpt from * across, or sl st into each of the next 2 sts and then repeat from * across.

Using the yarn that you previously set aside, repeat row 1 on the opposite end.

Fasten off, weave in your ends.
