You’re going to love the texture and vibrant colours found in the beautiful Cotton Candy Beanie crochet pattern!
Not too long ago I came across the Caron Macchiato Cakes by Yarnspirations at my local Michaels Store. I was initially attracted to their mesmerizing colours and then their wool blend.
I love a wool blend for winter accessories. It’s cozy and easy for most people to wear. The bulky weight of the yarn also makes this hat a little quicker to work up.

The Cotton Candy Beanie crochet pattern is worked from the bottom up to the top. As you can see in the photo above, you can either work the brim a little longer so that it is double thick, or work a shorter one. It can also be worn with a pompom or without depending on your own preference.
This crochet pattern is sized to fit a teen or an adult. I will provide stitch multiples and a few tips down below on how to adjust the size should you wish.
The colour of Caron Macchiato Cake shown here is the Atomic Aqua, and there are so many different colours to choose from! My colourful faux fur pompoms were purchased from a local (Canadian) seller on Etsy called WoolyKnitsandCrochet. I can’t decide whether I like the green or the rainbow best! I look forward to seeing what colours you choose!

Pattern Notes:
- Pattern is written in American English terms.
- Brim of hat is worked in rows, body of hat is worked in rounds.
- Ch 1 at beginning of round does not count as stitch.
- Turn at the end of each round AS INDICATED.
- Weave in ends as needed.
- OPTIONAL: Brim of hat may be worked using either single crochet stitches or half double crochet stitches instead of the slip stitches. You may also choose to begin with a brim that you will not fold up. In this case, start with a ch 10 and then work your brim.
- To change the size of your beanie, work the first hdc round of the hat body in multiples of 2.
