The Cameron Scarf crochet pattern is an easy scarf to crochet that was designed to complement the Cameron Beanie.

Not too long ago I designed the Cameron beanie crochet pattern which is an easy pattern to work with a classic knit look (even though it is crochet!). I wanted to design a scarf using the same stitches.

The Cameron Scarf crochet pattern is a cozy scarf with a classic knit look. For the scarf I selected the Mandala yarn by Lion Brand as I love how soft they are and the colour stripping yarn cakes makes colour changing so easy!

This crochet scarf is worked from end to end. You will work the shorter rows which makes it easy to adjust the width of the scarf and then you will only need to crochet the scarf to the desired length.

As is the case for the majority of my scarf patterns, you may add a fringe to the ends if you wish, but they are optional! The yarn amounts below include the yarn needed for the fringe.

The Materials:

I have mentioned that to work this scarf I used an acrylic yarn called Mandala by Lion Brand. In the photos and video tutorial below, I used the colour Kraken which is a beautiful blend of blues and greens. You will need about 1.5 of the cakes or about 700 yards of this light weight (#3) yarn.

Along with the yarn you will need a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook. In the video tutorial below I will be using a Birchwood crochet hook by Rowan. It’s one of my favourites!

Free Crochet Pattern:

Ch 41

Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook, hsc (see “Stitches and Abbreviations”) in the next st and in each of the remaining stitches.  Ch 1, turn.  (40 sts)

Row 2: Sc in the top of the first hsc st, hsc in the blo of each st across until the final st.  In the final st, work under both loops and hsc.  Ch 1, turn.

Rows 3 onward: Repeat row 2 until your work from the beginning measures approximately 86 inches.

Fasten off, weave in your ends.

Add a fringe to each short end if desired.  For my fringe, I cut five lengths of yarn about 10 inches long.  Using your crochet hook, in the first st pull the five strands of yarn through and fold them over so that their ends meet.  Then simply tie a knot near the end of the scarf.  Repeat this process in every second stitch across the end of your scarf.  Trim your tassels so that they are even and repeat for the second side.
