Hello and welcome to Rich Textures Crochet! Today we are going to learn how to crochet this easy crochet blanket called the Winter Woven Throw.
When the colder weather hits I LOVE pulling out my bulky weight yarns and working on those heavy weight patterns. This year the first project on my hook was this gorgeous texted easy crochet blanket.
Wool Ease Thick & Quick:
One of my FAVOURITE super bulky weight yarns to work with is the Wool Ease Thick & Quick by Lion Brand Yarn. This super bulky weight yarn is a blend of 80% acrylic and 20% wool making it super warm and cozy. You can learn more or purchase this yarn on the Lion Brand Yarn website here: Wool Ease Thick & Quick by Lion Brand Yarn. And I would like to thank Lion Brand Yarn for providing the yarn support for this project to make this pattern possible!
As mentioned, I love this yarn! If you’d like to see other designs I’ve done in the Thick & Quick Yarn you may want to check out the Midwinter Blanket – Free Crochet Pattern or the Cozy Baby Blanket – Free Crochet Pattern.
This blanket has a simple construction giving it a clean and classic look. The stitch pattern used is called a twisted stitch and gives the blanket this great woven like texture. Because the blanket is worked in a super bulky weight yarn and the stitch pattern is quite dense, the blanket has a heavy weight, great for snuggling under on those colder days and nights.
Although I have not worked a border on this blanket (The yarn and stitch are fairly sturdy), I have added a fringe to the ends. The nine balls of yarn called for in this pattern will accommodate for the fringe if your blanket is about 43 x 50 inches.
The written pattern for this easy crochet blanket will be written out in full below followed by a free video tutorial. However, if you would like to purchase a PDF copy of the pattern you may do so from my Etsy and Ravelry Shops linked below:
Thank you so much for stopping by! Until next time, happy crocheting!
