If you have been following this blog and my social media, it will be no secret by now that I love to read! And, when I read, I love to add a little personal touch to my reading with a handmade crochet bookmark, such as this one featuring the classic Granny Square!
In fact, I don’t just love to read, I am a librarian assistant, so I highly encourage everyone to read!
The Granny Square:
The Granny Square is such a classic crochet pattern. Granny Squares come in a variety of colours, patterns and even shapes. The design I have chosen today, models after the classic granny square look, is simple and easy to make up. Once you make the first bookmark, you may just want to make more for yourself and your friends. Bookmarks make a great addition to a greeting card or gift.
This book mark is made up with 4 simple granny squares that are crochet together once all four have been completed. After they are crocheted together, you’ll finish your bookmark with a simple single crochet edging. I have also added a tassel to my bookmark to embellish it a little bit.
Find Rich Textures Crochet on YouTube:
Following the written pattern you will find a complete video tutorial for this pattern. The tutorial also includes how to make a tassel should you choose to add one of your own. While your watching, please subscribe to my YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/richtexturescrochet/) which I like to update weekly!
For this project you will need a 4.00 mm crochet hook and some light weight yarn (#3). I have used Patons Grace which is a 100% mercerized cotton. Feel free to experiment with other fibres and colours! If you share your creations on social media, feel free to tag @richtexturescrochet. I love to see what your working on!
The pattern will be written out in full below, however if you would like to add it to your library or purchase a convenient PDF download, you may do so in either of my Etsy or Ravelry shops linked below:
