With the holidays just around the corner, now is the time to start working on your holiday blankets and this Classic Christmas Blanket crochet pattern is perfect!

There are a few things that never go out of style when it comes to Christmas! One of those things is classic designs and patterns such as this near traditional chevron design. The other are the colours including snow white and a deep cherry red. Combine the two together and you end up with this festive Classic Christmas Blanket.

A chevron design blanket worked in red and white yarn

I can easily see this blanket tossed over a comfy couch by the fire or perhaps someone cozied up under it while enjoying a cup of hot chocolate and a book. The design and colours just scream the holidays.

And this crochet blanket is very easy to work! The chevron pattern is a one row repeat with a little bit of texture. All you will be switching up is the colour! The blanket is worked all as one piece from bottom to top. It is worked using basic crochet stitches and the edges are clean enough so that you don’t need any further edging, not even a fringe! Although you may add these if desired.

The Materials:

The Classic Christmas Blanket Crochet Pattern is worked in a worsted or medium weight yarn. It is shown here in a 100% acrylic yarn called Caron Simply Soft. I find this yarn a wonderful yarn to work blankets in. The yardage per ball is a good length, it comes in a variety of colours and it is super soft! You will need just over 3000 yards to complete the blanket divided in two different colours. Along with the yarn you will need a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook.
