The Subtle Lines Crochet Stitch pattern is great for when you would like a clean texture that is not too overwhelming in your project.
The stitch that creates the texture in this pattern is one that, I’ll admit, I don’t use all that often! But it does have a great rhythm to it when worked and it is so easy.
The pattern itself is a four-row repeat, but don’t let that deter you. You will see that it is really easy! It will be a great technique for any crochet project and I look forward to hearing how you use it.

The Materials:
For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Pima Cotton Yarn by Lion Brand Yarn in a single colour. It is a worsted weight yarn. You could also work this pattern in two or more colours. I will also be working with a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook. In the video tutorial below you will see me working with a Birchwood Crochet Hook by Rowan. However, you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.
Thank you so much for stopping by! If you enjoy the tutorial below, be sure to also check out some of the many other crochet stitch tutorials on my site and pin this for later! You may wish to start with the beautiful Crossed Double and Post Stitch.

Yo sl st – Yarn Over Slip Stitch
Pattern Notes:
This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a solid colour.
This pattern is written in American crochet terms.
To begin make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch, you may use any number of stitches for your foundation chain.
For example, ch 31.
Row One:
Dc in the 4th ch from your hook, dc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Rows Two, Three and Four:
Yo sl st in the 1st st, yo sl st in each st across. Ch 2 (does not count as a st), turn.
Row Five:
Dc in the 1st st, dc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
And that’s it!
For the pattern, you will simply repeat rows 2-5 then fasten off and weave in your ends.
